An individual who handles documents typically performs three tasks: underlining items, highlighting concepts with various colors, and making notes on the paper. Now, imagine being able to carry out all of these tasks on your computer - well, you can. The software that enables this functionality is called Skim, a comprehensive PDF reader that offers a wide array of note-taking features. The notes created with Skim resemble traditional post-it notes in terms of shape and color. They can be placed anywhere on the document and their size can be adjusted easily. There are two types of notes available: one that appears directly on the document and another represented by a small icon that contains the note's content. The latter option is particularly useful for longer notes. In addition to note-taking, Skim also allows users to underline, strikeout, highlight, circle items to draw attention to key concepts, and more. The program displays a tree view on the left side to illustrate the page-to-page relationship within the document, while on the right side, it shows connections between notes, arrows, underlines, circles, and other inserted objects on a page.
